Seattle Amusement Parks

If you are a thrill seeker looking for big drops and high speeds, or looking for a family dun day out, Seattle has something to offer. The city houses some of the best amusement parks in the Northwest. Seattle is also scattered with smaller indoor venues such as Chuck E Cheese’s and Family Fun Centers. This is due to the high precipitation and cold weather during fall, winter and spring. But, there are fun things to do anytime of the year!

Wild Waves: Wild Waves used to be owned by Six Flags until 2007, but there are still loads of thrilling rides in the park. The park is split into a thrilling rollercoaster park and a water park. The park offers a great event called Frightfest each October, which changes the park into a spooky Halloween time festival. The “wild” side of the park offers mostly thrill seeking rides, but there are some smaller coasters for younger kids. There is even a section for small children called Kid’s Kingdom. This side also offers classic favorite amusement park rides like the Falling Star and Pirate’s Ship. Find out about height and weight restrictions on their website. The “waves” side definitely offers fun for the whole family with family tube rides and relaxing rafting trips but also offers speed slides and big drops for thrill seekers. The water park is a great stop during the warm summer months where you and your family can spend the day relaxing along the lazy river or fighting the surf in the wave pool. Admission to the park includes admission to both parks. There is great food and drink available inside the park. All that water playing will make you hungry! Check the website for when the water park is open as it probably won’t be as fun during the more frigid winter months. The park is located just off of I-5 so if you are headed to Seattle from the south it is right off the freeway!

Fun Forest: Fun Forest is located at the Seattle Center, Seattle’s center of fun, entertainment and local culture. It certainly isn’t a major amusement park but it does offer fun, smaller scale coasters and fair-like rides. Fun Forest also offers a whole section of Kid’s rides including a Merry-Go-Round. The park is open rain or shine, although if it is pouring out some rides may be closed or close early. The Pavilion also includes a climbing wall, laser tag, and mini-golf. From November 28-December 31 is Winterfest in the Seattle Center and Fun Forest. It is five weeks straight of free or low-cost activities. They create a winter wonderland in the middle of downtown Seattle including an ice rink! During these weeks there is loads of local entertainers and exciting events. Many of the festivities are outside so bundle up! But no matter what time of year you plan on visiting Seattle, Fun Forest will have some exciting events going on. Just check the website!
