January: It is really cold in Seattle in January so come prepared. There is always loads of stuff to do every month of the year but if you are going to be in Seattle to celebrate the New Year, head straight to the Space Needle for an awesome fireworks display. They had a little trouble bringing in 2008 as it was their first try but 2009 should be perfection!

February: Brrrrr…it is chilly in Seattle still but the rain starts to die down. Bring a coat and scarves and gloves. During this month, however, you can celebrate the Chinese New Year and watch a dragon dance.

March: You may see more sunny days, but it is still quite chilly. But there is a really fun St. Patrick’s Day parade that heads down Fourth Street and culminates in the Seattle Center. So, get in touch with your Irish side in March!

April: The rain continues on a little more steadily in April (you know the saying), but it does start to warm up. But that isn’t what gets Seattle excited. April means the start of baseball season, which means diehard Mariners fans come out in full force. If you can make it over to Safeco Stadium for a game you should. There is nothing like going to a MLB game. It is America’s pastime!

May: One of the most beautiful months anywhere in the Northwest, May brings more sunshine, green rolling hills and beautiful blooms. It is also the month of the Seattle International Film Festival. So, if you are into indie films and creative culture you should definitely check it out.

June: Summer in Seattle is probably the best time to visit if you are trying to avoid the rain and see great views through clear skies. The weather is always great, maybe a light shirt and shorts, although you may find the occasional showers. To celebrate the summer season the Fremont Fair takes place. It is the Northwest’s biggest street fair where you may find those eclectic treasures you’ve been dreaming of.

July-August: Well in the midst of summer Seattle really starts to come out of its shell. While you may think the Northwest is always cold, temperatures can get well into the eighties making Seattle a great summertime destination. During July and August there is the Everett’s Music in the Parks Summer Concert Series.

September: The month signals more than just back to school to the Huskies. It is also the beginning of football season and the Seahawks fans are out in full force. College football is also a big deal in this college town. Also, September tends to have very mild weather but also be less touristy than other months so it may be a great time to visit!

October: The weather starts to get a bit chilly so definitely bring your coat. The Seattle Food and Wine Experience is during the last week of October at the Qwest Field Plaza and is home to all the best treats, eats and drinks of the Northwest.

November
: Now it definitely starts to cool down and the rain starts to pour. But that is okay because most people start to head inside anyway as it is the start of basketball season, which is a very important thing for Husky fans.

December
: Winter has arrived, which means dress accordingly. But Seattle becomes a beautiful wonderland in December. Be sure to check out the lights both at the Zoo and at the Seattle Center.
