Italy Nightlife

Nightlife in Italy is full of music, vibrant culture, and dancing. The big cities have the most to do simply because there are way more choices, but no matter where you are there is a bar or a club waiting for you. From crazy techno beats to smooth jazz, Italy nightlife has something for everyone.

Rome

A favorite in Rome is Alexanderplats on Via Ostia. Here you can listen to live jazz 6 nights a week. It is a great place to chill out, listen to great music, eat great food, and drink great wine…the true Italian experience. But if you are looking for something with a faster beat and more dancing the Piper Club is one of the most popular clubs in Rome. It is absolutely packed every Saturday night, but has great hip hop and sometimes live music, and really fun people. They have different shows going one each week so check out the website to find out what is going on at Piper Club. Also, Alien is another popular house/techno club with a futuristic (as the name suggests) setting, crazy lights, and fast dancing. The cover can be as much as 20 euro, but it is where a lot of young people hang out. It is especially a hot spot for international students looking to enjoy the European techno dance clubs they have heard so much about.

Florence

Florence is one of the trendiest cities in the world, which means when people go out here they look good. There are loads of bars and clubs all over the city. The most popular thing to do here is to go out and dance all night long. Yab and Space Electronic are the two most popular dance clubs in the city. Space Electronic is open Tuesday through Sunday until around 3 am. It consists of three floors, all of which offer something very different. The ground floor is a pub, which is great for drinking a beer and having conversations. The lower level is a karaoke club that is fun if you are in the mood to laugh. Then, the upper level is a crazy dance floor with booming electronic music and people stuff themselves in like sardines. It is a really high-energy place. Yab is high- energy as well and is just around the corner from Piazza della Republica. It is only open during low season, but it offers great rock and punk music, and good food and drinks.

Venice

Venice has its own history and culture, which makes it a really fun place to go out. It is pretty spendy though, so be warned. If you want to go someplace with a bit of international history visit Harry’s Bar, which was one of Earnest Hemingway’s favorites. Besides being connected to the famous author, Harry’s is also known for its innovative drinks and deliciously creative food. It gets pretty packed during high season. Another fun place to visit is Martini Scala Club near Piazza San Marco. This is a fun piano bar with food served late. But, for a nice, relaxing evening in Venice try one of the many wine bars. A favorite is La Cantina. Here they serve light food including small fish plates caught fresh from the Adriatic. There are loads of interesting dishes to try here and amazing wine. It is a great place for conversation and relaxation after a long day of sight seeing.
