Orlando Nightlife
An Orlando vacation may be known for beautiful sunny weather and unsurpassed amusement parks, but you’ll also find a very active nightlife. Nights in Orlando offer so much to do; the only factor is how much energy you have to spend. Whether you’re looking to dance the night away, enjoy a world-class comedy show, or just relax in a quiet pub, Orlando nightlife delivers.
Disney – Downtown Disney and Disney’s Boardwalk
Disney is more than amusement parks and cartoon characters. The Walt Disney World Resort offers two opportunities for you to take in the Orlando nightlife on their property. Downtown Disney’s West Side is the most popular area for those looking for clubs, restaurants and bars. Live entertainment here includes Cirque du Soleil’s acclaimed La Nouba show, and the House of Blues. Disney’s Boardwalk near Epcot and Hollywood Studios is themed as a 1920’s Eastern Seaboard boardwalk, and offers visitors the chance to dance the night away at the Atlantic Dance Hall. This art deco themed nightclub is open five nights a week. If you prefer singing to dancing, head over to popular Jellyrolls where you’ll be expected to sing-along; the dueling piano players take requests.
Universal CityWalk
The Universal CityWalk is a 30-acre entertainment complex offering dining, movies, shopping, and shows. The popular Blue Man Group performs at their very own 1,000-seat theatre. If looking for the most interactive experience at the show, choose to sit in the poncho section. Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville consistently offers some of the best nightlife in Orlando. This buzzing hotspot features live music, great “Floribbean” cuisine, and three bars. The volcano bar erupts with lava-like Margarita mix whenever the blender needs a refill. Pat O’Brien’s is an authentic reproduction of the New Orleans landmark bar. The motto here is “Have Fun!” and everything from the Bourbon Street décor to the signature drinks make sure you have just that – and more. Make sure to spend some time in the Piano Bar, but come early, as there is usually a long line to get in. CityWalk is also the location of the world’s largest Hard Rock Café. Touted as the Roman Coliseum of Rock, it has more rock and roll memorabilia than any other location. To further set it apart, this is also where you’ll find the 3,000-person Hard Rock Live concert venue.
Downtown Orlando
Some of the best Orlando nightlife can be found downtown on Orange Avenue. The Independent Bar has featured live music for over 20 years. With three bars and two dance floors on three levels, this Orlando hotspot is a favorite for those who like great dancing and cheap drinks. Club Firestone draws a diverse crowd with its theme nights and eclectic mix of great indie, electro, rock, urban and latin music. Housed in the old Firestone tire warehouse, this 13,000 square foot club is always crowded. Wall Street Plaza features eight bars and restaurants. On the weekends, check out the Wall Street Block Party where one price admits you into all the area bars. Lizzy McCormack’s Irish Pub boasts Orlando’s longest happy hour, and is loved by both locals and visitors. The relaxed ambiance and cool bartenders at this upscale Irish pub make this a great place to spend an evening.
Comedy Shows
Orlando nightlife comes complete with entertainment like the ever-popular SAK Comedy Lab. Their Duel of Fools show features a “Whose Line Is It Anyway” style where two teams perform scenes based on suggestions from the audience. Not surprisingly, Wayne Brady started his improv career at this 220-seat club.
Bonkerz Comedy Club inside the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Orlando keeps visitors laughing with stand-up from some of the funniest, and famous, comics in the country.
