Portland Restaurants

The Northwest prides itself on generally good food, wine and beer. Portland takes this to an all new level. Food is an art for Portland locals and they are proud of what they create. No style, recipe, or ingredient is ever turned away. Simply made better with innovation and creativity. The Northwest has access to some of the freshest and best tasting ingredients in the world so it is definitely worth trying something locally owned and operated. Not to mention that Oregon and Washington make some of the best wine and microbrews in the world. You’re taste buds are in for a treat during your visit to the City of Roses!

Voodoo Doughnuts: So it’s not an actual restaurant but it must be mentioned. Voodoo Doughnuts has taken the conventional holey pastry and made it better (if you can imagine that!) Everything here is locally owned and made, so each little doughnut has a little bit of the flavor and culture of Portland sprinkled in. The people here love what they do and they will make you fall in love with their creations (like their maple-bacon doughnut.) They have two locations but the SW 3rd location is open 24 hours! This means, even after a long night out you can grab a sweet snack—and nothing has ever tasted so good!

Henry’s: This place is huge and so is the menu. Pick anywhere in the world and Henry’s is sure to have a menu item from there. It is a great choice for a big get-together or dinner with friends and the patio is awesome during the summer. The exposed brick and big TV’s give the feel of an old pub but the professional service and great food adds comfort to your experience. Henry’s is a huge landmark of downtown and definitely has something for even the pickiest of eaters. Come for a fancy date or a casual gathering, Henry’s is great for any occasion.

The Melting Pot: This is where innovation meets foods that melt. This fabulous fondue fantasy is a staple of downtown Portland. The Melting Pot specializes is fondue (as the name suggests.) Whether chocolate, cheese, caramel or whatever they come up with next you can’t go wrong. This is the perfect girls night out destination. The meals are perfect for sharing with big groups and they also offer a wide selection of wines. It is a great restaurant to begin your night out in and in Portland it is conveniently located near great bars and clubs. They also have a great lunch menu if you get tired after a day of downtown Portland shopping.

Toro Bravo: This authentic Spanish restaurant is a favorite of Portland locals. The chef uses the fine ingredients of the northwest to recreate the fabulous flavors of Spain. They have tons of different kinds of paella and great wine to choose from. You could spend hours here eating the delicious food, drinking great wine and visiting with friends. It is a great date restaurant as you and your special someone can share some of the dozens of delicious tapas. The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming—a true reflection of the Northwest. The food on the other hand is flavorful and exciting. Toro Bravo is a great destination if you want to try something a little different.

The Rimsky Korsakoffee House
: This great little venue on 10th and Alder is really good for exploring the musical side of Portland. It is filled with revolving tables that are themed after different composers. But be careful because your coffee can end up on the other side of the table. They often have live music and amazing homemade desserts. The coffee’s not bad either!
