Portland Shopping
As with any big city, Portland has all the big fashion names we all know and love. But Portland also has great local shops that offer unique styles and trends. Portland prides itself on being a bit “weird” and so are the styles at times but the experience, fun! Each shopping destination has its own feel and goal but no two places are exactly alike. Plus, the thing that makes Portland shopping possibly the greatest shopping in the country is that Oregon is one of two states in the union that doesn’t have sales tax. That is right, while visiting the City of Roses enjoy some fabulous tax-free shopping!
Bridgeport Village claims to be the best shopping in Portland, which may be true but all the shopping centers are great. It is located right off of I-5 in Lake Oswego. You can spend a whole day here going to all of the great shops including favorites like J Crew, Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. But there are also loads of locally owned shops with really unique merchandise that is worth checking out as well. They also have great locally owned restaurants including Greek food and a great sushi place. Then after dinner you can go catch a movie at the regal cinemas. Or, during the summer they even have live music on the weekends. This shopping center is designed for a full day of fun. You won’t be disappointed.
NW 23rd.: Located just north of bustling downtown Portland, NW 23rd St. has become infamous for its great shopping. This street is full of favorites like Kitchen Kaboodle and World Market, but also has fun trendy stores like Urban Outfitters and locally owned Twist. Twist is a funky and eclectic jewelry store. If you are looking for something unique and fun for yourself or even your home, Twist is worth a look. NW 23rd is also home to great cafes, pubs, and restaurants. Don’t worry if it starts to rain because there are also delicious coffee shops along this fabulous street where you can duck in and grab a steaming cup of coffee. It also has amazing music stores!
Pearl District: The Pearl District is located in the heart of downtown Portland. It spans several blocks and prides itself on its high-scale, posh shopping. The people of Portland often consider it the best shopping in town. This is the area of Portland with all of the luxury hotels, great restaurants and trendy nightclubs. It is great for a girl’s day out shopping with great stores like Anthropoolgie and Williams Sonoma not to mention other fabulous locally owned shops where the culture and art of Portland really comes out.
Washington Square: This delightful shopping center is located in the midst of downtown Portland. Washington Square is full of shopping favorites such as Nordstrom, Apple, and Victoria’s Secret. It is also home to great restaurants, such as Cheesecake Factory. This means that you can spend a full day shopping and finish it with a delicious meal.
